First up, you don’t need to buy expensive gear to be a successful influencer, blogger or content creator. There are so many different aspects that go into this evolving industry. But high-quality content requires high-quality production so here’s a list of my favorite go-to tools. This list of gear is equipment I’m currently using or have used to create content on multiple platforms.

Cameras

  1. Canon T6 EOS Rebel DSLR

    This was my first still photography camera I owned and I had this exact bundle you can purchase on Amazon. It’s the perfect beginner camera. I have experience filming with video cameras but still is a completely different game. Stick this bae on auto for high-quality photos with little still photography experience. You can shoot on manual by learning and researching a couple settings that can improve your shots. I liked the bundle because it comes with cards, a battery pack, a camera bag and an extra lens. Be careful with the tripods. I’ve had two bundle tripods snap on me and the wrong fall from a snapped tripod leg could damage your new cam. This DSLR is sturdy though. lol. Another tip, be careful how you clean your lens. Read up, use the provided cleaner in the kit and you’ll be fine.

2. Canon EOS M50 Mirrorless Digital Camera

The Canon EOS M50 Mirrorless Digital Camera was my second big girl still photography camera. If you are a YouTuber, vlogger or cinematic videographer looking for a great 4K mirrorless cam, this is the one for you. Mirrorless cameras are typically lighter and better for video and DSLRs can take better photos and tend to be heavier. I think this mirrorless camera is a great price for how stunning the 4K video is and the handy touchscreen that flips out to the side makes it easy if you’re filming by yourself.

Lighting

Lighting is key. Since the rise of the influencer, blogger, vlogger, YouTuber and video content creator, companies are creating professional video and photo lights for this specific niche. The most popular is a ring light set. If you search on Amazon, it seems impossible to know which ones are any good.

Do you wonder how all the craft bloggers do it thinking ‘how on earth did they make that’? I’m happy to tell you that you can do it too! You don’t have to take art classes, be a blogger, or be an “artistic” person. Have you ever been stumped when you try to plan a craft project or when decorating? You want to personalize your home décor, but it’s too expensive or difficult? Well, crafting can be a cheaper alternative to buying décor.  It’s not difficult, you just have to get the hang of it.

DIY Tip: Wood Crafting

I’m going to  share one of my favorite crafting products and a couple of tips and tricks for wood crafting! There are many fun projects you can make from wood, and the end result can be pretty impressive with a few tricks. You can make a wooden sign to fit your décor or to display that favorite quote that you love. Check out your local craft store for unfinished wood items or rummage through a friends scrap wood pile for a sign blank. You can re-purpose an item you already have at home with a little sanding and a coat of fresh paint to match your decor. One expert tip is to paint with the grain when working with wood. This will allow the paint to apply much smoother and have a clean look. Have you painted something before, but the color went right through and is so thin that you can see through to the wood or previous color? In some crafts, this is a look you want, but when you want a nice thick layer, you don’t have to apply it multiple times! I found  this awesome paint/primer called Gesso. Gesso is almost like a thick white paint. I like to use it as a primer! It helps to keep the paint from soaking in, and you can use less paint - saving you money. You can change the style of your project by wiping excess paint off with a clean cloth and scuffing up the edges with a piece of sand paper for a more weathered look. Don’t be afraid to make a mistake, just add more paint, or sand your project down and start again. There are some great resources on Pinterest and YouTube to help you get the look you want and templates/tutorials on how to letter that perfect quote onto your project. Benefits of Crafting

My favorite thing about displaying something I have made is being able to call it “mine.”  I love when you work so hard and long on something and someone notices it and loves it. They’re like, “I love that, where did you get it?”  and you can say ,“Thanks, I made it!”.  Another benefit is saving money. So many things you see at the store, you can make for about half the price! Sometimes all you need is a container of paint to refurbish something you already own.

Another fun thing about crafting is personalization. When you make something yourself, you can make it the color you want, size you want, and make it fit in that one spot in your home that needs something but nothing seems to fit! My absolute favorite way to personalize something is by adding a monogram. No matter what the piece is, it makes a statement.

A Gift From The Heart

Last, but not least, let’s talk about turning crafts into gifts. This was part of the inspiration in creating my DIY crafts and gifts subscription boxes, Confetti Grace. Have you wanted to give that one person something special, but had no clue what to buy? Make it! Make a décor piece, a necklace, a canvas, a gift basket, something one of a kind!

The first thing I do is find out that person’s favorite colors. Then, for example, if they like a certain theme (i.e. travel), I would make a necklace with a travel icon or a quote about travel on it. This would also work for sign, photo frame, or a number of other handmade crafts.  When in doubt, think subtle, neutral and understated. Handmade gifts aren’t difficult and they’re one-of-a-kind gifts that are memorable and mean a lot to everyone.

I started my company almost two years ago when I was 14 years old. I was determined to share my passion for crafting and gift giving. I started crafting as soon as I was old enough to hold a paint brush. I started homeschooling recently to allow myself more time to work on building my company. Art Deco

From Miami, Florida to Tulsa, Oklahoma, this style of is still hot. The different influences of 1930s Hollywood, beachy pastels and bold Ancient Egypt-inspired geometry make this a truly unique crash pad. The roof is usually flat and the smooth stucco walls have rounded corners. You can count on glamour and luxury from the fearless exterior and experimental vibes on the interior of this style of house.

Art Deco was the popular architecture choice in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s but we often see it in commercial instead of residential spaces today.

Prairie

A favorite in the Midwest, a Prairie style home features a low roof that effortlessly blends into, well, the Prairie. It was coined by Frank Lloyd Wright for its strong horizontal lines, earthy tones and low-slung, hipped roof. He created it with the idea that your home should be practical to meet your needs instead of a flashy or showy spectacle. The simple materials and open floor plans on the inside continue to be on-trend.

This historic residential homes were built by the early settlers from England in the 1600s with sound structures and practical resources to adapt and endure the local environment.

A distinct characteristic is the steep or gabled roof, which is has two sides that slope and meet creating end walls with a triangular extension. Other features include the central front door, multi-paned windows and a large chimney inside of the house that was often the gathering place for the family. Today, the expanded house still embodies the original history but with coastal, country or modern touches.

What Causes Hesitation

Mel Robbins said, “When you hesitate, you're seeking validation, but validation only comes when you take action.” I wrote on Mel Robbins’ amazing 5 Second Rule here after enrolling in one of her classes on CreativeLive. I’ll stop hesitating now, and dive into it.

Self-Doubt Triggers

Self-doubt creates a triggers and the first one causes you to hesitate as if you were trapped. It also triggers uncertainty and so you start actively waiting - for the perfect time to go out and get that job you’ve always wanted, pick up the phone to mend a relationship or live the healthy lifestyle you’ve wanted for years now. You’re actively waiting in your mind which means you’re also actively not doing it. And that’s the point, the “perfect time” never really comes.

“I act on my impulses, but then I freeze and I don't follow through. It's so frustrating because I know I'm the problem. The harder I try the more complicated I make everything. Because you're not doing anything, right? You're up here. I overwhelm myself and feel guilty and stupid, I give up. I just wish I could smack myself and get out of my own way,” from Robbins’ class. If you want to level up, you have to get out of your own way. Get out of your head. It will only lead to additional anxiety especially if your mind is swirling with negative thoughts. No matter how you feel, by taking action, you will be growing just by doing so and as you continue to grow you will be closer to achieving what you want or becoming who you want to be as a person.

A lot of hesitation, I think, comes from fear. Fear of rejection, inadequacy, failure or embarrassment. As a society, we often correlate our identity directly with our work. When a guy can no longer play in the league or you get fired from your day job your whole identity - the essence of who you are is stripped away because that’s who you were… work. And without it, who are you? “You're not putting you out there, you're putting your work and your story, you're putting a story out,” said Robbins.

How do you overcome hesitation? No more hiding and actively waiting which can lead to you feeling helpless. Walk through your fear, get out of your comfort zone and move forward on your path - the right path hurdling hesitation along the way.
